Believe in yourself!

"Self confidence and self esteem are the things a person must have".

This idea was injected into my system by my teacher back in high school. She stressed to me its importance in my pursuit for education and also in my daily life. According to her, it is the best weapon anyone can have in order to reach the peak of success. "You can only face other people if you have already faced your own self", she added.

Being confident gives you the power to deal with others in a smart manner. However, I do believe that one can only be confident enough if he is being true to himself. Your behavior is a manifestation of your attitude. It is believed that people who tell lies most of the time are the insecure ones. They could not face the problems within them, that is why they tend to lie. Lying, in other words, serves as their defense mechanism. So, in this case self confidence and self esteem is missing.

The very effective way for a person to be confident is to be true with himself. How could you be confident enough if you yourself do not trust you?

Let it begin in you and let it flow to them. Being honest to yourself is one way of being true to yourself. As a consequence, you can develop self confidence for you feel secure, thus, giving you the chance to stand out. The point here is that there is no need for us to pretend and become the person whom we think could make us stand out. The key word there is being true to oneself, only then, you will have the guts as well as opportunities to stand out. Ain't it nice to be affirmed for being you, and doing the things you think you could? Isn't it more flattering to display the work you have done as a product of your idea?

Reflect on this:

I have friend, who always feels insecure and would want to act in a way similar to his schoolmate who happens to be the crowd favorite. He always compares himself to that guy, sometimes he patterns his work to that person's. But he is having a hard time doing so. He could not be at his best for that guy's standards does not fit his nor his does.

Later, he realized that he could not be at his best if will continue on following his schoolmate. He said "Why should I pattern my life to his when I can do more!". After that realization, he concluded that it is better to be yourself and do the things your good at, than to be someone who you're not. It is good to follow role models though.

I guess you already draw the picture and get my point. The key to your success is to be yourself and believe in the things you can do. The best edge you have from others is being you. They will never get the chance and privilege to be you. They could never wear your shoes nor use your tooth brush. Do not be insecure of yourself, you can be the best, all you have to do is believe.

Never dare utter words such as "I am a good - for - nothing person" nor say "I'm nobody". We are special in every way. Howard Gardner said "every child or person is a potential genius". There are things I can do that you cannot and there are things you can which I cannot. In other words, there is no point of comparison among humans. Biblically, we are created in the likeness of the Lord and we are wonderfully and fearfully created. Therefore, we are so special, we just have to belive in ourself by being true to oneself. Do your best, expect for the best and be at yuor best.
